300px-electron-positron-annihilation_svg_gcncThe couple sat at a table at a gourmet restaurant.  The conversation passed easily and comfortably as they finished their shared appetizer and their first glasses of wine.  The man was wearing a sport coat over a white shirt with the top two buttons undone.  The woman wore a casual blouse and skirt.

The restaurant was not crowded, but there were a number of people there.  The couple’s attention was completely focused on each other.  They had been married for years, so they had no need to impress one another, yet they still enjoyed each other’s company more than anyone else’s.  Their marriage was a truly happy one:  a marriage that others envied.

The staff cleared the empty appetizer dishes from the table, and the waiter refilled their wine glasses  The man quietly thanked him then reached over to take his wife’s hand.  She smiled at him, then began to say something when the man’s cell phone rang.  He rolled his eyes and sighed, then reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out his phone.  He looked at the display to see who was calling, and he momentarily froze, his face blank.  He looked up at his wife, down at the phone, then back up at his wife.  His expression was simultaneously apologetic, annoyed, and concerned.  She looked down at the table then back up at him.  She nodded her head and quietly said, "Good luck."
